Sleeping Dogs – Announcement Trailer

A year ago, on February 9th 2011, we learnt that the game True Crime: Hong Kong, a game which had not seen the light of day for some time and appeared to be suffering a lot of issues, was cancelled by Activision. Square Enix picked up the rights to the game (but not the series) back in August and has finally announced that it is bringing the game back, under the name Sleeping Dogs.

Developed in conjunction with United Front Games, Sleeping Dogs is set in Hong Kong and has players take control of Wei Shen, who is attempting to take down the Hong Kong triads from the inside. Lee Singleton, General Manager of Square Enix’s London Studios, commented on how the game has, “one of the best melee combat systems out there,” describing it as, “super brutal with devastating takedown moves.” The game is due for release in 2012, with Square Enix officially stating that it will launch in the second half of the year (industry rumours suggest August).

You can watch the live action announcement trailer below, though be warned for it does feature some violent moments.

Sleeping Dogs is currently due to be released on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
