Battle Of The Bloggers is the quiz that gives UK Bloggers the chance to compete against each other for the chance to become Battle Of The Bloggers champion. The quiz is produced in association with the MCM Expo Group, Blogomatic 3000! and The MCM Buzz. The quiz will take place at the MCM Expo Groups events (See below for a list of dates and venues) and entry is FREE.
How To Take Part:
Taking part in Battle Of The Bloggers is easy, all bloggers have to do is form a team (Maximum of four per team) or you can compete on your own if you want, then check that you meet the rules and requirements (See below for more) and then email your details to: botb@mcmexpo.net and our team will contact you to confirm your entry shortly after. We will also allow teams to be made up of more than one blog if they wish too. Whilst there is no closing date for teams to enter, a limited amount of spaces will be available for each heat and once these are taken then no further entries will be allowed.
What Do I Win?
Apart from the bragging rights and a shiny badge to stick on your website, all heat winners will receive a selection of amazing prizes as donated by a wide range of sponsors.
What Topics Will The Questions Be On?
The questions will cover a wide variety of topics including and not limited to the following: TV, Film, Comics, Anime, Video Games and general Geek Culture.
When And Where Are The 2011 Heats/Finals Taking Place?
Heat 1: Manchester MCM Expo-30th July-Manchester Central (Entries To Close 26th July at 12pm)
Heat 2: London MCM Expo-October 28-30th (Entries will be accepted from 27th July at 9am until October 21st at 9am)
The Finals: Memorabilia Birmingham-November 19-20th (Qualifying teams only)
Can I Come Along And Support My Favourite Blog?
Of course you can! All you need to do is purchase a valid event ticket either prior to or on the day of the event (Event tickets can be purchased here). Then as with all MCM Expo Group panels and on stage entertainment, The Battle Of The Bloggers is free to watch and there may even be a chance for members of the audience to win some fantastic prizes too!
Who Has Qualified For The Finals So Far?
Following their successful victory at the recent Manchester MCM Expo (Click here to see a video of the event courtesy of Tonyo Times), Team Dog At My Wookie are the first to qualify!
What Are The Rules And Entry Requirements?
Each team member must be a writer of member a of published UK Blog or news website with a minium of three months publication history.
Each team must contain a minimum of one competitor and a maximum of four.
If a team is unable to reach this member limit special consideration maybe given by the organisers and to arrange this, the competitor needs to complete the application process and include a note explaining their situation. The situation will then be evaluated and a decision communicated to the applicant within two business days, please note that the organiser’s decision is final.
Each team can choose a name prior to submission however once submitted this name cannot be changed without consulting the organisers.
Each team must provide up to date contact details in the form of an email address, telephone number and the http link to their blog/news site.
All team members must be named on the initial registration and any changes must be approved by the organisers no less than 24 hours prior to competition.
Once a team has been accepted they will be provided with a logo which needs to be displayed on their site/s prior to competition and at least two weeks after the event.
All participating Blogs/News Websites are required to publish coverage of the competition/event prior and after the competing.
A competing team can be made up of various Blogs or News site members, however in order to qualify for competition all of sites on said team need to advertise the event and their participation using the methods described above.
All competing teams and their members are subject to the same terms and conditions relating to attendance of the all MCM Expo events.
All teams must agree to make themselves available if necessary for press and advertising purposes to members of the organising team.
The winner of each round will automatically qualify for the finals taking place in November as part of the Memorabilia event . Prizes must be taken as stated and cannot be deferred. There will be no cash alternatives and the promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize for one of equal or greater value.
Any entrant/team found to be cheating or in breach of any rules will forfeit their teams right to compete and will be liable to any charges incurred by the organisers (i.e. event tickets).
Any team failing to observe any of these requirements will be disqualified.
Blogomatic3000 and MCM Expo do not accept any responsibility for travel expenses or any expense occurred before / during / after the event.
Blogomatic3000 and MCM Expo do not accept any responsibility for late or lost entries due to the Internet or email problems. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt. Entrants must supply full details as required on the competition page, and comply with all rules to be eligible for the prizes.
This competition is not open to employees or contractors of Blogomatic3000 or MCM Expo or any person directly or indirectly involved in the organisation or running of the competition, or their direct family members.
Prizes unclaimed after 28 days will be deemed to have been forfeited and Blogomatic3000 and MCM Expo reserves the right to either offer the prize to the entrant whose name is next or to re-offer the prize in any future competition.
Blogomatic3000 and MCM Expo reserves the right to cancel the competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of its control.
Blogomatic3000 and MCM Expo will not use any personal information gathered for non competition business and will not sell it to third parties without prior consent.
