“Baba Yetu” from Civilization IV wins Grammy

“Baba Yetu” by Christopher Tin features in the game Civilization IV, being the title track and the trigger to many memories that I have playing Civilization, conquering  warlords and building Cities.

The track won the award for “Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s)” and is the first ever track from a video game to win a Grammy.  Although the track was in Civilization IV released in 2005,  Christopher Tin’s album “Calling all Dawns” was not released until 2009, within the time frame to be nominated for the Grammy.

This is fantastic news for gaming, history is being made as games grow into a more matured medium. In the show Video Games Live, Baba Yetu was part of their main set list for years, and it looks like it’s finally been recognized.
