THQ announce Voltron Game

Video games publisher THQ (Red Faction and Saints Row) has announced its plans to release a game based on the 80’s kids show, Voltron: Defender of The Universe.

This classic series that first began in September 1984, focused on the story of five coloured Lion robots which when combined formed the mighty Voltron and their pilots as they defended the galaxy and planet Arus from the forces of King Zarkon and Prince Lotor.

The game is set to be released alongside the newly rebooted TV version of the series which is set to be released later this year and while the TV series is set to be called Voltron Force the game will stick more firmly to the classic TV shows roots.

“The video games relationship with THQ, along with our master toy relationship with Mattel, signals the exciting future ahead for Voltron. With its signature robot lion action and titanic-scale battles, our Voltron games and toys along with our new series are sure to have enormous appeal to fans of all ages around the world,” comments VP of World Events Productions Robert Koplar

Whilst there is no news yet on the formats which the game will be available on, fans can at least take heart that it, unlike the TV series, will be sticking to the roots of the show and not creating a new not needed reboot.
