Batman: Arkham City given release date

Warner Brothers Interactive and DC Entertainment have today announced a release date for the much anticipated sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum which is being developed by Rocksteady Studios.
Batman: Arkham City is to be released on the 18th of October in North America, the 19th of October in Australia and then the 21st of October in Europe.

The story of Batman: Arkham City allows players to immerse themselves into the world of the Dark Knight in Arkham City (which is five times larger than the previous game world), one year after the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum. The city slums have now been converted into a prison for all of Gotham’s criminals which ensures that the

will be busier this time around. When describing Arkham City, Marketing game manager for Rocksteady studios, Dax Ginn, said, “Arkham City isn’t a sandbox game but it’s not completely linear either – it’s somewhere in-between.”

Popular characters from the Batman universe making an appearance in the game include Catwoman, Two Face and Hugo Strange. Players will of course be playing as Batman himself throughout the story, and will find that he is armed with new gadgets and the ability to fight multiple enemies at once now. A larger variety of enemies will also be present in the sequel.

Batman: Arkham City will be released for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.
