Nintendo Wii 2 all but revealed?

Various sources have confirmed that Nintendo have already created the successor to their Wii console and are planning on revealing it to the world at the E3 expo in June.
There are high hopes for the new console as Nintendo seem to have already learnt from past mistakes, having reportedly already begun showing it to publishers in order to gain interest from them at an early stage rather than surprising them and hindering software support as with the Wii.

According to GameInformer who first reported the story, Nintendo’s new console is able to run games in HD making it more of a competitor to both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 consoles currently on the market.
The Wii is often in the line of fire from “hardcore gamers” due to its lack of high definition and more adult games, so it is understandable that Nintendo feel the need to upgrade their hardware in order to meet gamer needs.”Hardcore gamers” will also be pleased to know that an anonymous source – after experiencing the console first-hand – has commented that, “(It’s) not a gimmick like the Wii.”

Rumours of a new Nintendo console such as a HD Wii have been floating around for some time now due to Nintendo’s tendency to release a new home console every 5 years, and as of today it appears that these rumours have been confirmed by everyone but the company themselves. When questioned about the information, Nintendo simply offered the comment, “Nintendo does not comment on rumor or speculation.”
It seems then that we will have to wait until their press conference at E3 on the 7th of June to be put out of our misery on the matter, but either way Nintendo are sure to have a brilliant year with the successful release of the 3DS behind them already and a strong spring/summer lineup announced recently too.
