Fringe Writing Duo to Sharpen ‘Zanbato’ for J.J. Abrams

Alison Schapker and Monica Breen– the writers behind hits such as’ Alias’ and ‘Fringe’– have teamed with J.J. Abrams once again to rewrite ‘Zanbato’; a script once attached to Francis Lawrence who directed ‘Constantine’ and this year’s ‘Water For Elephants.’ The film will be released via Paramount.

The word Zanbato refers to a type of Japanese sword with an extra long blade and the story involves “swashbuckling robots.” Robots with swords and a healthy influence from Japanese history is the pitch. As with all J.J. Abrams’ projects, details remain scarce as MI6 levels of secrecy surround them until the viral campaigns begin.
