Need For Speed: The Run announced

NFS The Run

Following the early release of the teaser trailer last week, EA have now officially announced the new NFS title, called “Need For Speed: The Run.”

The latest  title in the franchise sees the series return to the underground street racing scene as you race from San Francisco to New York whilst on the wrong side of the law.

The game is powered by DICE’s state-of-the-art Frostbite 2 engine which promises to be amazing as seen in the recent Battlefield 3 and NFS: The Run trailers. This should mean that NFS: The Run will  also boast stunning visuals, physics alongside a gripping storyline “that will draw the player into a world with no speed limits, rules or allies.”

The fantastic and revolutionary Autolog system, first used in Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit will be returning in the new title and promises to be better than before as you utilise it to compete socially with friends.

Need For Speed: The Run is developed by Black Box, a studio of Electronic Arts whose previous titles in the series include Need For Speed: Underground (1 and 2), Need For Speed: Most Wanted, Need For Speed: Carbon and Need For Speed: Pro Street – basically all of the street racing titles for the series, so they have some experience in this field.
Jason DeLong, Executive Producer at EA said, “This is the year that Need for Speed goes to the next level”, he then went on to say, “We think that Need for Speed: The Run is going to surprise people with its intense, thrilling story and big action feel. But the game would be nothing without hot cars and crazy-fast chases. So that is what we’re delivering — explosive racing that will have players flirting with disaster at 200-miles an hour.”

Need For Speed: The Run will be available for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PC, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo 3DS consoles from November 15th in North America and November 18th in Europe.
