Writer/director Paul Anderson is currently putting the finishing touches to The Three Musketeers whilst also heading up pre-production on the new Resident Evil movie. It is unknown at this stage if he’ll direct it, though it could be unlikely, since he is also attached to direct the TV series Pompeii.

So far, only Jovovich and Sienna Guillory, who made a return cameo appearance as Jill Valentine at the end of the fourth instalment, are the confirmed cast members, with Guillory, revealing on her own Twitter account in March that she was in training for the movie.

Resident Evil: Afterlife, was the most successful film of the franchise so far, having earned over $290 million worldwide.

Studio Sony Screen Gems have already pencilled in a release date, with Resident Evil: Retribution set to open on September 14th 2012.
