Announcement Trailer for Lollipop Chainsaw

An announcement trailer for Grasshopper Manufacture’s latest, Lollipop Chainsaw, has finally been unveiled.

From Suda51, the game was first revealed in Famitsu magazine back in July, and has players control Juliet Starling, a cheerleader at San Romero High School who just so happens to hail from a family of zombie hunters.

The trailer features Juliet at her high school, doing cheerleader poses to the sounds of The Chordettes’ Lollipop, only to suddenly start slicing invading zombies with a chainsaw. Interestingly their blood turns into florescent love hearts.

The trailer also makes sure to mention the involvement of James Gunn. As the writer and director of Slither and Super, he also wrote the screenplay to Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead. He mentioned on his blog that he was, “involved with crafting the story, and helping to create the characters, and writing the dialogue.”

Be warned that the trailer does feature plenty of gore, which means that you’re probably going to click play anyway.

More information can be found on the official site, or you can follow Juliet Starling on her own Twitter page (she has tweeted that she loves bowling, and a chainsaw is her favourite power tool).

Lollipop Chainsaw is to be distributed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Kadokawa Games and will be released on PS3 and XBOX 360 in 2012.
