Red Tails poster and second trailer!

Red Tails

Fellow Lucas hounds will no doubt be already hot on the trail of George Lucas‘ latest and decade awaited epic, ‘Red Tails’. Directed by Anthony Hemingway (Falling Skies and Battlestar Galactica) and produced by Mr. Lucas himself, ‘Red Tails’ has been the brain child of George since the 70s and has been in development since 1988. The film is based on the Tuskegee Airmen, a group of African American pilots who fought valiantly during World War II despite the continuation of racial segregation in America. A story dubbed, “Too good to be true” by George Lucas and a fascination he has turned into a passion production for years is set to be released in the US on 20th January 2012 (there is currently UK release date yet).

MTV has released a second trailer for the production along with a debut theatrical poster confirming the release date. The poster is reminiscent of 50’s style movie advertisements; bold, action packed and illustrated. Featuring the mid-heat of a WWII dog fight, it’s 100% guaranteed to follow in typical contemporary Lucas fashion and be jam packed with CGI everything. Here’s to hoping for substance we so desperately miss from the George Lucas we once knew.

The trailer, which can be seen below introduces just some of the excellent ensemble cast which includes Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrence Howard, Bryan Cranston, Nate Parker, David Oyelowo, Tristan Wilds, Cliff Smith aka Method Man, Kevin Phillips, Rick Otto, Lee Tergesen, Andre Royo, Ne-Yo, Elijah Kelley, Marcus T. Paulk, Leslie Odom Jr., Michael B. Jordan and Daniela Ruah. The aerial combat is phenomenal, and the detailing of historic fighter planes have clearly been perfected. The trailer establishes the plot and clearly confirms the direction of the film. It appears that we may have a movie on our hands that contains both computer generated image and complex characters together, something that’s become a very rare feature in many blockbusters.
