JapanManga Application Offers Multilingual Manga

We’ve reached a point where reading comics on your iPhone is nothing new. However, when it comes to reading the very latest Manga you often have to wait for it to be translated. However, now there is an app that’ll allow users to read Manga on their iPhone in multiple languages by simply sliding your finger.

The rather oddly titled JapanManga app allows its users to read Manga or Doujinshi provided through the application in either Japanese, English, or Chinese. The app is to satisfy a demand for those that wish to read Manga in Japanese, as well as a potential aid for those in Japan wanting to learn a foreign language. They’ve released a short video (see below) which shows how it works. After reading a chapter you also have the option to send a message to the author of the Manga, so you can maybe tell them how great they are or that you didn’t like their work.

Put together by a trio of Manga loving university students, JapanManga currently have 15 titles at the moment, but they intend to update with new stories every three days and hope to have over 100 to choose from by the end of the year. They’re also looking into expanding the translated languages to include Korean and French. If you think you’re up to it, you can also contribute your own work, regardless of whether you’re a professional or just starting out.

JapanManga has only recently got underway, and their iTunes page does point out that there have been a few bugs, but hopefully the coming months will bring about more prolific Manga. You never know; if popular artists and writers start to get on board then it could mean exclusive Manga and could save on having to wait months before a translated copy arrives at bookstores.
