Four Swords Now Available on the 3DS!

The Legend of Zelda’s 25th anniversary announcements do not seem to be abating, with a re-release of The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition now available to download for free from the Nintendo 3DS and DSi eShop.

Four Swords was originally bundled with A Link To The Past on the Gameboy Advance back in 2002. It was the first ever game in The Legend of Zelda series to feature a multi-player experience, allowing up to four players to take on the role of four different coloured Link‘s. Each player then teams up to rescue Princess Zelda from the evil Vaati. Although this was a multi-player experience, it featured the usual Zelda gameplay, including dungeons, puzzles and collecting items. It gained a GameCube release shortly after, but to fully expereince the four player mode, each player needed their own Gameboy Advance and link cable.

The new 3DS and DSi version differs somewhat from the original. A single player mode has now been included, which allows players to switch between two different Link‘s single-handledly throughout the game. Two new areas have also been included. The Hero’s Trial area will teach Link the Hurricane Spin, whilst the Realm of Memories apparently features some familiar locations from other Zelda games. A grand reward is collected when this area has been completed.

The video below provides a glimpse at what the game has to offer.
