IN THE WORLDWIDE ACT CATEGORY OF THE “2011 MTV EMA

THE 18TH ANNUAL AWARDS SHOW PREMIERES

SUNDAY 6th NOVEMBER AT 9PM CET* FROM BELFAST


The 2011 MTV EMA airs LIVE on MTV S.E.A. on Monday 07 November, 3am (WIB), 4am (SIN/MAL/HK/PH)
Same-Day Primetime Telecast at 9pm (WIB), 10pm (SIN/HK/PH), 11pm (MAL)

 

MTV has announced the five nominees for the 2011 MTV EMAWorldwide Act’ category!
For the past five weeks, fans have been voting for their favourite regional artists and now the final line-up has been revealed. In this last round, the talented global finalists will be going head-to-head to do their hometowns proud and win the prestigious ‘Worldwide Act‘ award.
Take a look at the nominees below and vote HERE for who you think should win! Voting closes at 11.59pm CET on Friday 4th November. The winning artist will be announced at the show in Belfast, Northern Ireland, which will take place on the 6th November. The award ceremony will be hosted by singer/actress Selena Gomez, and among those confirmed to perform are Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jessie J, LMFAO and Snow Patrol. As well as these top names, legendary Brit-rock band Queen will take the stage for a special performance. It’s one not to miss!

FINALISTS

 

Lena (Europe)

19-year old Lena Meyer-Landrut (stage-name Lena) won the Eurovision Song Contest last year with her upbeat song ‘Satellite.’ Since then she has continued to soar, gaining more fans, publicity and success. Her latest album ‘Good News’ went platinum in Germany, and she set a record debuting three songs in the top five of the German singles chart. BIGBANG (Asia Pacific)

BIGBANG 빅뱅 is one of South Korea‘s hottest boy bands. The five-member group formed in 2006 and had their breakthrough with the hit single ‘Lies‘ (‘거짓말‘); over the following years they have gained worldwide popularity. BIGBANG’s members are: G-Dragon (GD), T.O.P, Taeyang (aka SOL), Seungri (aka V.I.), and Daesung (aka D-Lite).

Abdel Fatah Grini (Africa/India/Middle East)

This talented 26 year-old who hails from Egypt has only been a professional singer for four years, but his soft vocal style, reminiscent of classic musicians like Mohamed Abdel Wahab, have earned him popular status. Britney Spears (North America)

Representing North America is pop sensation Britney Spears, who has recently returned to her former glory with the album ‘Femme Fatale.’ She’s grown up a lot since her iconic schoolgirl look in ‘Baby One More Time (1999) and the now-29 year-old is back on top of her game with tracks Till the World Ends and ‘Hold It Against Me’. Restart (Latin America)

Brazilian band Restart are one of the youngest and most successful bands in Brazil; they also have a massive following in Latin America and Argentina. These four young men have already won lots of awards all over Brazil, including 5 awards in MTV Brazil’s VMB 2010.
