The MCM Buzz Announce New Manga!

The MCM Buzz is proud announce the second of its MCM Buzz original Manga series and this time it is based on something  a little close to home.

Titled Joe and Stuart Save Expo, this original series is written by MCM Buzz writer Shalimar Sahota with artwork by talented young artist Sophie Chipchase. It will focus on the adventures of MCM Buzz podcast hosts Stuart Claw and Granny Gertrude as they attempt to save the MCM Expo from an as yet unconfirmed threat. Joining Granny and Stuart in attempting to tackle this mystery threat will also be characters based on Tokyo Toys employees The Pocky Ninja and Sumomo.

“It is great to once again provide a platform for two talented young people to show their work,” comments MCM Buzz General Manager Stuart. “Having my own Manga character is fantastic and I can’t wait to see the reaction from the audience and my friends and family,” continues Stuart.

The idea for this started when listening to one of Joe and Stuart’s podcasts (it’s podcast #12 if anyone wants to know),” comments writer Shalimar Sahota, “ and being in the chatroom, someone jokingly wrote, “Joe and Claw: The Movie.” I thought to myself, “What the hell would that movie look like anyway?” Who knows if that’ll ever happen, but ideas started formulating, and with a basic premise in mind I figured the next best thing would be a comic book, particularly after seeing the success of the MCM Buzz Manga Chloe. “

Several weeks later and a couple of emails to Stuart and the first draft of the story for the Manga was complete and had been approved by Stuart, but without an artist the development of the project slowed to a crawl. That was until a chance tweet by Stuart appealing for an artist attracted the eye of artist Sophie Chipchase who up until this project has had her work featured in a variety of magazines including having some of her work featured as part of a showcase in an issue of Neo Magazine. “It was like a gift finding Sophie,” comments Stuart, “Not only was she keen to be involved, but she sent us character concepts that not only matched our visions but were sent to us in under twelve hours!”

The first part of the Manga is currently being drawn, however the MCM Buzz has managed to get hold of an exclusive first look (see below) at some of the characters you will be able to see when the Manga debuts soon.
