Memorabilia: Cosplay

It’s that time of year again, Winter Memorabilia is almost upon us and there is just enough time to add those finishing touches to the costumes. Cosplay is part of what Memorabilia is all about and is certainly one of the most important aspects for some. From Anime, to Doctor Who, to TV and even film, Cosplay stetches across all genres and despite what some may say, is ageless. The more outlandish and recogniseable the character the better, and this year will be no different.

Already the Memorabilia forums have been buzzing with cosplay chatter, including who will be attending as who. There is quite a variety planning to hit the NEC this weekend including the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’s Arthur Dent (feel free to offer him something that resembles tea), Captain Jack Harkness (listening out for those Welsh vowels), Ianto Jones, Amy Pond, the Tin Dog of series 6 Rory Williams (not to be confused with the real Rory who will be signing there on Sunday) classic Doctor who companion Romana II (who will be prepaired for any Nimons), Hermione Granger, Rose Tyler, Doctor Who’s River Song (watch out for walking space suits), and more Anime characters than you could shake a stick at.

For those of you who are planning to cosplay don’t forget the Cosplay Masquerade which will take place on both days and will be presented by Granny Gertrude on the Totally Cosplay Stage on Saturday and in the MCM Theatre on Sunday. The EuroCosplay Championship Finals will also be held on the Saturday if you wish to see the creme de la creme of this year’s cosplayers.

If you wish to take part in the Masquerade simply pop along to the Totally Cosplay area and register. All it will involve is taking down your own name and the name of your character you are dressed as; after that what you do on the stage is up to you. But remember the Masquerade will only take place if there is enough interest, so spread the word! And for those of you with cameras feel free to ask for a photo, as part of the fun of cosplaying is getting recognised.

Happy cosplaying!

This article seems to be quite confused, mixing up the October Expo and Memorabilia!
