Wonder Girls Number 1 On Billboard.com’s Kpop Chart

It was previously covered just how much anticipation there was about the Wonder Girls making their long awaited Korean comeback. Their comeback single, ‘Be My Baby’, ended up completely dominating the charts in Korea. Not only do they have a huge influence in the Korean charts but it also seems that they have the same effect on the Billboard K-Pop Chart, grabbing the #1 spot in a flash!

Billboard.com launched back in 1995 and has grown to become one of the most popular websites to see music charts of all different genres from all different countries. It was back in August when Billboard decided to include the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100. According to Billboard.com, the new K-Pop chart was launched in conjunction with Billboard Korea. It is based on digital sales via leading websites as well as downloads from mobile service sites using an industry-standard formula and the most credible music data sources within Korea.

Studying the past and recent charts, you can see a definitive change in genre and style, ranging from Boy bands and Girl groups dominating the top spots, to rappers, ballad singers and soloists taking the charts by storm. It may seem weird, but every now and then you will recognize the odd English/American name that has taken Asia by storm.

As for the Wonder Girls, their new album ‘Wonder World’ landed in 5th place on the Billboard World Album Chart, as well as 33rd on the Social 50 Chart. Although the first-place rank is a feat in itself, the girls also landed several other tracks in the top 50, including ‘Me, In’ (17th), ‘Girls Girls’ (18th), ‘GNO’ (22nd), ‘Act Cool’ (47th), and ‘Stop’ (49th).

You can keep up to date with all your music chart needs through Billboard‘s Twitter  and Facebook pages. Check out their Kpop chart Here
