United Cube Rocks London

It was always going to be a very special occasion. United Cube‘s London concert marked the first ever collaborative K-pop concert in the UK: a milestone not just for the industry but for hundreds of British fans as well. On Monday December 5, London’s O2 Academy Brixton was packed as thousands of guys and girls came to see idol groups 4minute, G.NA and B2ST perform.

Fans braved the bitterly cold weather as they waited for the venue doors to open, clutching signs which bore supportive messages in English and Hangul and singing K-pop tunes to pass the time. Some individuals had even started queuing as early as 3am (!), while others had flown in from countries such as France, Spain and Sweden just to be a part of the event – once again showcasing the dedication of the K-pop fandom.

The concert opened with an explosive performance of ‘Hot Issue’ by 4minute, followed by hit tracks like ‘I My Me Mine’ and ‘Mirror Mirror.’ Band member HyunA performed the saucy ‘Bubble Pop‘ (one of our top Summer tunes!), clad in the tight floral dress sported in the music video. G.NA sang favourites ‘Black & White‘ and ‘Top Girl,’ and also covered Rihanna‘s ‘Take A Bow‘ in a rendition “just for [England].” B2ST wrapped up the gig, faithfully delivering crowd-pleasers such as ‘Breath,’ ‘Bad Girl‘ and recent hit ‘Fiction,’ among others (including Hyunseung and HyunA‘s hot new collaboration, ‘Troublemaker‘). For the finale, 4minute, G.NA and B2ST took to the stage together and their act ended with a bang as the crowd were showered with confetti and streamers.

All three groups were brilliant with their audience, warming them up after their long wait in the cold, cracking jokes, asking for song requests and getting them to cheer. They seemed genuinely delighted to be in the UK and B2ST‘s Yoseob even showed his appreciation by donning the British flag like a cape! Subsequently, members have posted celebratory Tweets such as ‘Thank you London!’ (Gi Kwang) as well as photos of themselves in and around the city. With such a successful first meeting, the Cube Ent. family are sure to reunite with their UK followers soon, and no doubt they will be welcomed back with open arms.

The next United Cube concert will be held in São Paulo, Brazil.

  1. Despite not being able to see much at all they sang AMAZINGLY live and they are all so talented – Cube Entertainment is by far my favourite Korean Music Company as they brought me into kpop in the first place. Beast, 4minute and G.Na were amazing with the crowd and showed they appreciated every single one of us – They’re such nice people and I’m glad that I finally got to be in their presence and not just watching it over youtube religiously ^^ I hope they come back soon but I also hope they get the break they deserve =) Cube Entertainment HWAITING!!! x X x
