Skyfall Teaser Trailer

The official 007 site has revealed the first teaser trailer for the 23rd James Bond film, Skyfall.

The story has been kept heavily under wraps and the trailer offers little in the way of plot details. The official synopsis simply reads that “Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.” According to producer Barbara Broccoli, the title “has some emotional context which will be revealed in the film,” prompting rumours that this could be Judi Dench’s last role as M.

Directed by Sam Mendes (the first time a Bond film is being directed by an Oscar winning director), Skyfall has Daniel Craig’s Bond following up on a lead that takes him to Shanghai and Macau in China, and later Istanbul in Turkey. The screenplay is by regular Bond screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, joined by John Logan. Apart from regular characters Bond and M, Skyfall is not connected to the previous instalments, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. Nor is it related to any of Ian Fleming’s novels.

At just over a minute long, the teaser trailer is brief and moody. It shows Bond hesitating upon hearing the word Skyfall, as well as hinting at that action sequence on the London Underground. There’s also a seductive bit of… shaving.

With 2012 being the 50th anniversary of James Bond, Skyfall opens later this year on October 26th in the UK, and in the US on November 9th.
