Full Trailer for Resident Evil: Retribution features Jill Valentine and Leon S. Kennedy!

The Resident Evil film franchise’s lead star Milla Jovovich was at the Regal Union Square Cinema in New York today (14th June) to attend a Q&A as well as premiering the latest trailer for Sony Screen Gems’ Resident Evil: Retribution 3D.

The event was streamed live through the film’s official Facebook page. Of the new film Milla revealed a few details, talking about how the opening action sequence is “pretty unique” due to it being played backwards. “You’ll see when you watch the movie why it is,” she said. She also revealed that at the end of the film there is “an incredible action sequence” between her character Alice and Jill Valentine, played by Sienna Guillory, who returns to the franchise. “Pretty much she’s killing me,” said Milla of the fight, a part of which is glimpsed in the new trailer.

Of the trailer itself Milla said, “There’s so much crazy stuff in the movie that’s not in the trailer, just because it’s not ready yet!” Makes you wonder what they’re holding back on, because there’s plenty of crazy stuff going on here. As well as the expected zombies (including one wielding a chainsaw), there are huge explosions, a huge Licker, some familiar faces from the previous films, and… isn’t that Leon S. Kennedy?

As Umbrella’s T-Virus continues to decimate the Earth, Alice fights to survive amidst legions of the undead. In an effort to hunt down those responsible for the outbreak, she travels across Tokyo, New York, Washington D.C. and Moscow, and discovers more about her mysterious past in the process.

This fifth instalment of the Resident Evil film franchise might not be the last, for Milla did mention that writer and director Paul W.S. Anderson does have an idea for a sixth part.

The film stars Bingbing Li as Ada Wong, Shawn Roberts as Wesker and Johann Urb as Leon S. Kennedy. It also reunites Michelle Rodriguez as Rain and Oded Fehr as Carlos Oliveira. Resident Evil: Retribution 3D is set to open in the US on September 14th and in the UK on September 28th.
