Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan coming to UK DVD in 2013

Streaming site Anime on Demand dropped the news on Twitter today that Kaze UK have picked up Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan for DVD release sometime in 2013. Both seasons of the supernatural shounen series will be released through Manga Entertainment as previous Kaze titles such as Black Lagoon and “Mardock Scramble have recently.

Based on the million selling manga by Hiroshi Shibashi, Nura is the tale of Rikuo Nura, a part-human part-Yokai boy whose demon genes cause him to transform into a Yokai at night. He lives with his Yokai grandfather who is eager for him to become head of the Nura clan. Not exactly keen on the idea, Rikuo does good deeds to avoid transforming into a full Yokai. But will he able to escape his fate forever or will Rikuo have to come to terms with his position as the inheritor of the Nura Clan and face the opposing factions that would take the powerful position for themselves?

The Nura manga concluded in Japan in June of this year, however the series is still being released in English by Viz and the English dub of the anime previewed below will premiere on US streaming service Neon Alley next week.

Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan is fantastic. I love the Japanese folklore, creative visuals and the humour. Can’t wait for season 2!
