LEGO Batman: The Movie Announced

Warner Bros. has released a trailer for its first full-length LEGO movie. Lego Batman: The Movie – DC Superheroes Unite will be released next year and seems to be based on the second game of the immensely successful LEGO Batman franchise.

Superman villain Lex Luthor has arrived in Gotham City and teamed up with the inmates of Arkham Asylum to take down Batman once and for all. Luckily, the caped crusader will have help from the Man of Steel himself, Superman, as well as a variety of other members of the Justice League, including Green Lantern, The Flash and Wonder Woman.

Here’s the trailer:

While this trailer seems to be comprised only of cutscenes from the game, hopefully there will be new material added. Last year, LEGO released the surprisingly excellent half-hour feature LEGO Star Wars: The Padawan Menace and this seems to be following in the vein of that. The LEGO videogames are famed for their charming style and sense of humour, so hopes are high for this journey into a plastic DC universe.

Lego Batman: The Movie – DC Superheroes Unite is expected to be released on DVD and Blu-Ray in 2013.
