Jane Goldman to write for Robert Downey Jr and Tim Burton’s Pinocchio

In recent years Jane Goldman has established herself as an excellent writer and producer, working on films like Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class and The Woman in Black. So it’s very exciting to hear that she is in negotiations with Warner Bros. to work on Tim Burton’s Pinocchio film. She will be giving a rewrite of Bryan Fuller’s (Pushing Daisies) original script.

Tim Burton has had his eye on the project for months along with Robert Downey Jr who is onboard to play Geppetto. Downey Jr is known for bringing his own ideas to the parts he plays and this is no different. Goldman is working to incorporate Downey Jr’s notes into the next draft of the script. The hope is that Jane Goldman’s involvement will help to finalise a few things and finally set the film in to motion. Dan Jinks (Big Fish) is also attached to the project as producer.

Over the last couple of years it’s felt as if Tim Burton was getting stuck in a rut, unable to deviate from his comfort zone. But seeing him work with new and highly creative minds is surely something to get excited about.
