Hugh Jackman’s back with the X-Men

Well the foot is truly in this writer’s mouth. After the news of Patrick Stewart’s and Ian McKellen’s return to X-Men, it turns out Hugh Jackman is coming back too! The actor is currently in negotiations to be Wolverine once again. In fact the man might not even have time to put his claws away after The Wolverine.

The next question is, can we expect anyone else to return? Famke Janssen is already cameoing in The Wolverine, so will her cameo be a possible lead in to X-Men: Days of Future Past? We can certainly expect to see more of this inter-connectivity between movies. You see Mark Millar is now a creative consultant for Fox and their Marvel movies. He knows the potential the X-Men franchise has (along with the other franchises over at Fox) and wants to help the company to build a shared universe. Just think of him as Fox’s Kevin Feige

Following on from the announcement of his return, Ian McKellen spoke with the Huffington Post about being Magneto again.

What a gas! I mean, Patrick Stewart and I have just been playing “Waiting for Godot” throughout England and in the West End of London. So, we’ve stayed in touch. We can’t believe it [laughs]. I thought these were Fassbender and McAvoy’s parts, but — no, no — we’re back. We’ll give them a run for their money. I mean, I haven’t read the script, so I don’t know how much we’ve got to do. But, to be back in that world, and for Bryan to be doing it — with all the success he’s had in the meantime — it’s wonderful. Wonderful.

The subject moved on to Micheal Fassbender and X-Men: First Class

I thought he was exactly that: first class. Excellent.

I thought he was better than me. But, we weren’t quite playing the same character because he was so much younger than me. And the scope of Magneto, one day a Jewish actor will play it. Clearly, he’s Jewish. We first meet him in at Auschwitz and there’s scope for all sorts of people to pay Magneto. But, I was just the lucky guy who got to play him first.
