Villain rumoured for Justice League movie

With Justice League not due out until 2015 (to go head to head with Avengers 2) there is still a lot to be decided. There isn’t news of who will be directing or who will be cast in the thing. But it seems a villain has already been revealed. According to Latino-Review.com the villain will be the DC God (or New God) known as Darkseid. They don’t say where they got this information from but they have been pretty reliable in the past. And of course with there still being so much to do it’s very possible this could change.

Fans of the comic books seem rather excited to see this badass of a villain attached to the project whilst others believe the character to be too similar to Thanos, the bad guy that the Avengers will be up against in their sequel. Fans of the comics might disagree on how similar they really are but the fact is that the majority of moviegoers aren’t all comic book readers and only have looks to go off. If you yourself aren’t a comic reader just take a look at the pictures and see what you think (Darkseid to the left, Thanos down-right).

The other worrying thing about Justice League at the moment is just how it’s being brought together. With no director hired yet it means it’s just up to Warner Bros executives to throw ideas around until they get a recipe for what will make the most money. Last week it was suggested that Man of Steel will in fact be a lead in to a Justice League movie, despite the film’s director Zack Snyder saying otherwise in the past.

When talking to the New York Post Snyder told them, “I don’t know how ‘Justice League’ is going to be handled. Honestly, I don’t. But ‘The Man of Steel’ exists, and Superman is in it. I don’t know how you’d move forward without acknowledging that.

Then when asked about a possible connection to further movies he replied, “I can’t really say anything to that, because that’s a big spoiler. I will say, yeah, they trust me to keep them on course.”

It’s all rather intriguing but there’s the sense that maybe someone at Warner Bros asked him to stick something on at the end, similar to Nick Fury at the end of Iron Man. If they could just hurry up and bring a director onboard then perhaps some of the worries would subside. Justice League has the potential to be an amazing film but if it’s put together by the wrong people it could easily turn into a horrible mess. Let’s cross our fingers and hope for the best.
