Hemlock Grove to return with a second season in 2014

Netflix’s original horror fantasy series Hemlock Grove is to return for a second season in 2014 that will run for ten episodes. Showrunner Charles H. Eglee of The Walking Dead, Dexter, and The Shield will also be joining the series as executive producer.

“The worldwide fan response to Hemlock Grove was phenomenal,” said the show’s executive producer Eli Roth. “Netflix members loved the potent combination of sexy monsters, mystery, and the dark family soap opera that ended with a huge twist, leaving audiences worldwide totally shocked. Season One was just a warm up for what we have in store for Season Two. Get ready to be scared in ways you never expected.”

Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content at Netflix said, “In its first season, Eli, Brian [McGreevy], Lee [Shipman] and the team did an incredible job of introducing viewers to a unique world of memorable characters.” She also cited how Eglee’s addition to the show will “will heighten the intensity.”

The show takes place in a Pennsylvania town where almost everyone has a dark secret. The murder of a young girl brings about an unlikely friendship between the two main suspects – the founding family’s young heir Roman Godfrey (Bill Skarsgård), and a relative newcomer and outsider, Peter Rumancek (Landon Liboiron). Together they decide to find the real killer.

Season One ended with a killing spree and some unanswered questions. A second season is likely to bring more gore, more scares and more strangeness that will leave you saying, “What the f…”
