Pokémon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awakened to air on TV in the US and UK this October

Pokemon the Movie Genesect and the Legend Awakened posterTo celebrate the release of the upcoming Pokémon X and Y for the Nintendo 3DS (released worldwide on 12 October), Pokémon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awakened (ExtremeSpeed Genesect: Mewtwo Awakens) will be broadcast on Cartoon Network in the US and CITV in the UK in October.

The movie will air on both sides of the Atlantic on 19 October. It will be broadcast on CITV (as a part of their Movie Club) at 9:25am. In the US, Cartoon Network viewers will also get to watch Pokémon the Movie: Kyurem VS. The Sword of Justice, which will run before the latest movie. In the UK, CITV viewers can see this on 14 September. 

Pokémon the Movie: Genesect and the Legend Awakened sees five Genesect invade the city and threaten its power supply, which attracts the attention of Mewtwo, whose motives are unknown. Ash and Pikachu, along with Iris and Cilan, suddenly find themselves caught up in a battle between the Genesects’ powerful leader Red Genesect and Mewtwo.

The film opened in Japan back in July and has so far earned over $30 million at the Japanese box office.

The movie will be followed by a sneak peek look at the first two episodes from the new animated series, Pokémon the Series: XY. The series will follow Ash and Pikachu’s adventures in the Kalos region as they delve into a new Pokémon mystery and meet new Pokémon introduced in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.

The episodes will air on CITV in the UK at 11:35am on both 19 and 20 October, with the full series debuting on CITV in 2014.
