Marvel Developing Agent Carter TV Series

carterIf you’ve taken the time to go out and buy a copy of Iron Man 3, chances are you’ve seen the latest Marvel One-Shot. Hayley Atwell reprised her role as agent Peggy Carter and got to kick plenty of arse. But it seems as if the studio haven’t quite had enough of Agent Carter yet.

The director of the One-Shot Louis D’Esposito revealed to Collider that “There are going to be more Peggy Carter stories that we need to tell… What we’ll do and how we’ll do it has not been determined yet, but those discussions have started.”

At the moment there are reports of these “stories” becoming a television series. Right now they’re trying to lock down a writer and there is no word yet on whether or not Hayley Atwell would be free to return.

The news isn’t so surprising when you consider Marvel are just preparing to broadcast Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and many are expecting it to be a huge hit. Channel 4 obviously believe it will be since they snapped it up and will be airing it only a couple of days after the US. While you can expect there to be jokes along the lines of, “It’s a Joss Whedon show, when will it be cancelled?” the Marvel logo will most likely ensure a large audience.

Let’s also not forget that there were whispers of a Hulk TV series some time back. It might be “on pause” at the moment, but for a Guillermo del Toro project that seems pretty standard at this point.

So could this be the start of a whole new industry for Marvel Studios? Can we expect more comic book inspired TV shows in the future? If that is the case, then which character would you like to see starring on the small screen?
