Karen Gillan competes with an evil mirror in teaser trailer for Oculus

Oculus teaser PosterFrom Relativity comes the teaser trailer and an incredibly creepy poster for the upcoming horror film Oculus.

Ten years after being convicted of the murder of his parents as a teenager, Tim Russell (Brenton Thwaites) has finally been released from protective custody. Now in his 20s he wants to forget the past and move on with his life. However, his sister Kaylie (Karen Gillan) believes that the death of her parents were caused by a malevolent supernatural force - the Lasser Glass, an antique mirror in their childhood home. Kaylie learns that the mirror has a 300 year history, with previous owners having mysteriously died, and so asks Tim to help her destroy it.

Co-written and directed by Mike Flanagan, Oculus is described as an expansion of his award winning short film, shot back in 2005. That one short was originally set out as part of an anthology of nine-short films.

Flanagan’s feature length version premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival as part of the Midnight Madness line-up back in September 2013. Following this it received some very high praise as an effective supernatural horror.

The film also stars Katee Sackhoff, Rory Cochrane and James Lafferty. Oculus is released in the US on 11 April. There is currently no UK release date.
