Unofficial Products Inspired by Disney’s Frozen – Jewellery, Cosplay and Melted Snowman!

Frozen Background (characters)

It is one of the highest grossing animated movies of all time and likely to become the highest grossing Disney movie of all time, so it is no surprise that Frozen has started to inspire a whole treasure trove of products based on the movie.

A quick scan of sites such as Etsy and Ebay turns up a whole variety of items from official merchandise to fan made products, a list that seems never-ending and likely to keep on growing, just like the film’s profits.

With this in mind here a few items that have caught our eye so far.

Starting with a craze that has been around for a while and that is of Frozen inspired rings. Like many Disney princesses before them Elsa and Anna now have rings inspired by them thanks to website Gemvara and user frozen-cakeartist. Each ring has a style and colour that matches elements found on the character, but if that was not enough for you the rings also have character specific inscriptions! Before you rush online and buy them however the price for each ring is a staggering $985 / £591 / €717.

Moving next to the bizarre and amusing (whilst at the same time slightly twisted), there is the Olaf The Snowman based water bottle label. The design is for a fictional brand of mineral water based on the Olaf character called, “Melted Snowman,” and even includes Olaf’s line, “Some people are worth melting for.” Unlike the previous product this one will not cost you very much as it retails at £1.84 / $2.99 / €2.23 on Etsy and will be sent to you as a JPEG file electronically by Etsy user squigglestudio.

The next piece of Frozen merchandise is a character based necklace by Etsy user Artmary2. Based on Elsa this necklace features the artist’s version of the character made in fimo and polymer clay and also has a small blue flower at the top of the ring that joins the necklace to a blue beaded chain. The necklace is available for a reasonable £10.15 / $16.95 / €12 and if you find that you do not like the chain then you could remove it and still use the rest for a keyring.

Staying with jewellery and next up with have a rather elegant locket from Etsy user CHAiNGEthesubject. It is a handmade sterling silver plated locket that features a pattern made with blue Czech glass bead and black base, both of which are topped off with an iridescent finish. Once opened it reveals the lines, “Let the storm rage on—The cold doesn’t bother me anymore,” which is taken from the film’s most popular song, “Let It Go”. All of this hangs on an 18-inch sterling silver chain and comes in a box with a ribbon, all for approximately £21 / $34 / €25.38! Not bad we think.

Disneys Frozen Locket

This would not be complete without mentioning the obligatory and ever growing Frozen cosplay items that are now available. If you are a budding cosplayer who loves the movie but you don’t have the skill or the time to make your own Elsa cosplay then worry not, help is at hand in the form of Etsy user Bbeauty79 and her Elsa Frozen Icy Blue Silk dress creation. Each order is custom made and takes 8-10 weeks for delivery. It is described as being a high end version with lots of details that comes in four parts, a bodice, a skirt, a mesh shirt and a cape. Sounds good right? Well all of this goodness comes at a price and a pretty hefty one at that – £1,230 / $2,000 / €1,493 to be exact. However, it is worth noting that you are paying for the person’s time to create it, and considering that the product description for the cape mentions that it has 432 crystals and 108 beads on it (that is a total of 550 for the maths fans), each of which is hand sewn and takes a total of 7 hours for that alone, then you start to think that maybe the price is right.

The last piece is something that no Elsa cosplay should be without and this is of course shoes! Enter Etsy user aishavoya and her Elsa inspired snowflake glitter American Eagle ballet flat shoes. Described as being covered in Frozen inspired glitter designs and having a snowflake pattern carved into the shoes themselves, they are also coated with several layers of polyurethane resin so that the glitter does not wear off easily. Like the dress before however all of this craftsmanship does not come cheap, so if you want that perfect finishing touch you will have to shell out £64.54 / $105 / €78.39. Suddenly a trip to your local Shoes Zone and craft shop doesn’t sound like such a bad idea!
