WWE News: Hogan returns, Undertaker/Lesnar and more!

Full spoilers for the Elimination Chamber PPV and Raw 24th February.

What a time to be a fan of WWE! On Sunday night we were treated to an exceptional PPV at Elimination Chamber where The Shield and The Wyatt Family finally came to blows and absolutely stole the show. The future is now as Roman Reigns and his stablemates stepped up their game against Bray, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, just coming up short at the end. Fans in the arena and at home no doubt ate up every second of the enthralling mix of brutality and athleticism these men displayed, with Seth Rollins pulling out some spectacular moves and even Harper diving through the ropes! An early Match Of The Year candidate if there ever was one. The ‘Eater of Worlds’ then went on to cost John Cena a title match at Wrestlemania XXX in the Chamber, and their rivalry continued on Raw, however the Wyatt/Shield rivalry is far from over and looks to be causing further cracks in the armour of the ‘Hounds of Justice.’ It’ll be interesting to see where Dean Ambrose and the other NXT graduates fit into the ‘Mania card.

All the participants in the Chamber match put on a great showing, especially Antonio Cesaro who is looking to take it to the next level. However he may well have to go through his tag team partner Jack Swagger as tensions arose on Monday Night Raw with Swagger arguably costing Cesaro the Intercontinental title against Big E, as he lost his cool and interfered in the match. It would be a shame to see The Real Americans split, as they deserve a title run, but Cesaro is on the edge of breaking out and is nearly ready to go solo. The crowds are certainly behind him, especially his Big Swing move!

We cannot talk about Raw without covering the most important aspect – the return of the ‘Immortal’ Hulk Hogan! After a ‘hiatus’ from wrestling (well, he was in TNA..), the original Mr Wrestlemania himself stepped foot inside the Squared Circle which made him the legend he is today. Yes, we only got a few minutes of Hulkamania and it was mostly to sell the WWE Network, but the crowd went wild as he announced his role as Host for Wrestlemania XXX. Keeping Hogan to select special spots here and there will keep the crowds hungry for more.

Talking of anticipation and hunger, the crowd in Green Bay on Monday night may have been subdued for much of the night, but they were absolutely rabid for every second of the return of The Undertaker at the close of the show. It had been speculated for a long time that he would take on Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania XXX and this was finally put to paper, as Paul Heyman stood by and watched his ‘Beast Incarnate’ get stabbed in the hand with a pen and then chokeslammed through a table! This was a hot angle to kickstart a feud for what is always a highlight of ‘Mania – the Streak on the line. Whether anyone believes Undertaker will ever lose or not is up for debate, but there’s no doubt the physicality between these two men will be exceptional.

So for now, we’re locked into Batista vs Randy Orton for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania XXX, as well as Undertaker/Brock Lesnar. Cena/Wyatt seem to be on a collision course, and Daniel Bryan is lobbying for a match against CEO Triple H. Whether that’s the best place for the leader of the ‘Yes Movement’ is something that many are discussing worldwide, and it’ll be interesting to see where WWE’s booking goes in the tale of the most popular guy on their roster currently. Wrestlemania XXX has a lot to live up to, and the next few weeks will be very interesting indeed!
