DC Comics Infinite Crisis Announces March Open Beta

Infinite Crisis

Grab your tightest super suit, slide those gloves on and get ready to throw your cowl into the ring, as Turbine Incorporated announce that DC Comics latest gaming title will begin Open Beta testing on the 14th of March 2014! The upcoming Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA for initiates) sees a team of the greatest heroes and villains in the DC Universe pitted against another in a fast-paced test of skill, strategy and mayhem to score points, complete area objectives and annihilate their opponents. Based on the acclaimed DC Comics run that begun in 2005 the game features classic locations and characters from the multiverse, including classic incarnations of both fan favourites from Batman and Superman to Wonder Woman and Green Lantern, but also features their counterparts from alternative DC universes.

Whilst in MOBA’s there are always classes of hero, the variety of the genre is pushed even further by the concept of the multiverse, allowing for characters to have completely different looks and skill sets whilst also paying homage to some of the most iconic settings in DC’s extensive history. Just a few notable examples are found in the Gaslight universe, a steampunk style world taken from the popular one-shot Gotham by Gaslight, such as silent marksman Gaslight Batman or deadly assassin Gaslight Catwoman. Whilst the Dark Knight is usually a master of hand-to-hand combat, the stealthy Gaslight Batman gives fans a chance to change up their play style whilst exploring new aspects of their favourite heroes. There is also a Nightmare Batman, a hideous monster that stalks its prey in the shadows.

To accompany the announcement of the Open Beta, Revolution have released details on three new heroes that will be coming to the game. The first to be announced is Mecha Superman, a hulking mass of metal capable of charging your opponent with incredible force. The second will be everyone’s favourite hooded marksman Green Arrow, implementing specialised arrows to overcome his enemies. The third will be Aquaman, a long awaited fan favourite, this last addition is a chance for fans of the Marine Marvel himself to experience the character first hand. Every character will have their own unique abilities that could turn the tide of any battle, and developers Turbine Inc. have shown no signs that the flow of new characters will stop any time soon.

Expect to hear some familiar voices too as DC heavyweights such as Troy Baker (The Last of Us, Bioshock Infinite) takes on Superman, and Young Justice’s Cameron Bowen reprises his role as Robin. All in all DC’s latest gaming experience is already shaping up to be a highlight for comic book fans, with a variety of maps riddled with references to classic lore and newer mediums. For now, be sure to sign up for Infinite Crisis and experience all that the incredible world of DC Comics has to offer.
