A Second X-Men: Days of Future Past Trailer Has Arrived!

After the constant muddle that is the marketing for The Amazing Spider-Man it’s nice to see a trailer for a comic book movie that isn’t just ‘splosions and endless villains. A second full-length trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past is here:

While the plot of this movie has been talked about for what feels like forever, it’s good to hear it from the great thespian Patrick Stewart. With such an enormous cast there has always been the worry that it all might fall into an incoherent mess but this trailer practically assures us this won’t happen. (While some were annoyed at Rogue being cut from the movie it’s at least proof that Bryan Singer isn’t going soft when it comes to the editing). It could be argued that this trailer plays it too safe but with so much riding on the movie and with the sheer number of cast involved it sort of had to.

Wolverine might be the vehicle for how the story comes together but it’s clear that the relationship between Xavier and Magneto is just as important as ever. Seeing that relationship evolve is just going to be amazing. It’s also great to get a first look at the sentinels in action (look out Storm!) and Peter Dinklage as Bolivar Trask. There’s lots of “blink and you’ll miss them” shots of other mutants so this might be one to re-watch a few times.

Overall we’re pretty excited about this one, it’s just a shame the latest poster wasn’t in nearly so capable hands. (Everyone loves Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence right? Let’s make them huge and then just throw everyone else on there!)

X-Men: Days of Future Past is directed by Bryan Singer, stars just about everybody and is out in the UK on May 22nd 2014.
