MCM London Comic Con to host first ever Pet Cosplay Contest (Updated)

Starwars DogsIn recent years the trend for dressing up your favourite pets has become more and more common and so with this in mind the MCM Comic Con team has decided to launch the first ever UK Pet Cosplay Competition in London this May.

Much like it’s human counterpart, the competition will focus on two categories – those of bought and made costumes – and each will be judged according to a set of rules that will be released when the competition opens for registration at 11:59pm today via the cosplay section of the MCM London Comic Con website.

We spoke to MCM Comic Con representative Avril Tromper who revealed how this idea came about, “We were looking on Facebook one day in the office when we saw a cute picture of a cat dressed as Batman and the idea evolved from there.”

Catain JackThe competition will be open to all pets and all those submitted to enter will be checked over on the day by an MCM Comic Con vet and also a member of the RSPCA to make sure that the animal is not being harmed in any way.

The prize for the winning entrant and their master will be a mixture of money and vouchers for pet food from a leading online pet retailer. There will also be a special prize awarded to the best performance entry.

The masquerade element of the event will take place in the MCM Theatre on the Saturday of the event at 3pm and is described by MCM Theatre host Stuart Claw as being, “A show like no other but most likely like Pets wins Prizes but with cool costumes and no Dale Winton, just Granny Gertrude.”

If you, like us, cannot wait to see a cat version of Naruto or a dog dressed as a Gundam then head to here to book your tickets to MCM London Comic Con this May.
