EA Sports Mixed Martial Arts series UFC now has a European release date and will be available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 20 June. It will be their first UFC title since acquiring the licence from THQ.

While the game includes many athletes, such as Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Rashad Evans and England’s Brad Pickett, there is also the option to play as the martial arts legend Bruce Lee.

“When we first heard that there was a possibility of adding Bruce Lee to the roster for EA Sports UFC everyone was excited at the prospect,” said Ian Lloyd, the game’s art director. “Nobody wants to tackle a legendary icon like this and mess it up.”

Lloyd revealed how they worked with Bruce Lee Enterprises and that they were provided with a catalogue of digital references spanning Bruce’s acting career. They were also given a life-cast of Bruce, which Lloyd called, “the next best thing to having Bruce scanned.”

“I am so excited about this opportunity to bring my father back to videogames,” said Shannon Lee, Bruce Lee’s daughter, and CEO of Bruce Lee Enterprises. “I’m thrilled that fans can now interact with him in a new way. The development team has been incredible to work with, and they’ve done a great job capturing the look and feel of my father. I think people will love getting a chance to fulfil a fight fantasy by playing Bruce Lee in the new UFC game.”

There are two ways to unlock Bruce in the game. One is to beat the game’s Career Mode on pro difficulty or higher. For those that can’t wait, the other option is to pre-order the game from select retailers and obtain Day One access to Bruce Lee.
