The Flash – The CW Releases an Extended Trailer

The Flash

In the latest trailer for its upcoming The Flash TV series, The CW gives viewers a more detailed look at the character’s origin story.

The new trailer opens with Barry Allen (Grant Gustin – Glee, 90210) remembering his childhood in voice-over, while we are shown his younger self getting in trouble with bullies because he was “not fast enough” to get away from them, and later watching his mother die after being struck – or perhaps deliberately attacked – by what looks like lightning in the shape of a man. As a CSI Investigator, we then learn that Barry has devoted much of his life to searching for the truth about that terrible day, little knowing that he is destined not only to find the lightning man, but also to become him. He is himself struck by lightning, and nine months later awakens from a coma with superpowers.

Barry is not alone, though, according to the synopsis:

“Though initially excited by his newfound powers, Barry is shocked to discover he is not the only “meta-human” who was created in the wake of the accelerator explosion — and not everyone is using their new powers for good. Barry partners with S.T.A.R. Labs and dedicates his life to protect the innocent. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won’t be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become…The Flash.”

Based on the material released so far, the series, developed by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Geoff Johns, is already looking easily as impressive as any big-screen comic-book adaptation.

The Flash is set to air on The CW in Autumn. Will you be watching? Give us your thoughts in the comments below.
