Evangelion 3.33 UK release date announced for February 2015

EvangelionQHotly anticipated after three years since the release of its predecessor, news of the next installment for UK viewers of the Rebuild of Evangelion franchise has finally arrived.

In a series of amusing tweets under the hashtag #NewEvangelion3Title, the UK distributor Manga Entertainment confirmed that the UK release of Evangelion 3.33: You Can (Not) Redo has now been postponed until February 2015.

Distributed for Japanese markets by Studio Khara, the Rebuild of Evangelion series is a complete remake of the original anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion. The series follows the story of Shinji, a teenage boy recruited to pilot an Evangelion – a giant bio-machine – to fight against evil beings known as Angels in a post-apocalyptic Tokyo.

Possible reasons for the delay have been speculated, including that the English dub has been re-done many times to ensure it is as close as possible to Studio Khara‘s Japanese version. While the film was released in Korean theatres in April 2013 and the Japanese Blu-Ray and DVD released later that month, the expected release date for the UK version and for the Australian version of the hit sci-fi anime was March 2013.

No specific date in February has been given for the UK release.
