Teaser trailer for Disney’s Into the Woods

INTO THE WOODSDisney have released a teaser trailer for their upcoming fantasy musical Into the Woods.

For those unfamiliar with Into the Woods (and are slightly worried that Disney might have gone all Evil Dead), the film is an adaptation of James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim’s Broadway musical (with Lapine adapting for the screen). Mixing the fairy tales of Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel, the film is told from the perspective of a baker (James Corden) and his wife (Emily Blunt) as they attempt to break a curse placed upon them by a witch (Meryl Streep).

Directed by Rob Marshall (of Chicago) and produced by Marc Platt (of Wicked), the teaser doesn’t feature any songs and is light on dialogue. It instead aims to win audiences with the visual iconography, hence a girl in a red hood skipping into the woods, a boy climbing a beanstalk, a girl letting down her hair… you get the idea. The marketing are also trying their best to keep Johnny Depp’s appearance as The Wolf hidden as much as possible.
