Frozen to return in 2015 as Disney set to premiere new short

Frozen Fever2015 imagecourtesyofWaltDisneyAnimationIt has currently generated Disney over $1.3 Billion at the box office, they have announced an ice skating version of it, a Broadway version and books based on it, so it came as no surprise last night that Disney announced we would be seeing more animated adventures from our favourite Frozen characters in 2015.

Titled, “ Frozen  Fever,” an apt title when you consider the success of the film, this new adventure will not be a full length movie but an animated short that we are told will feature Anna (Kristen Bell), Elsa (Idina Menzel), Kristoff (Jonathan Groff)  and Olaf the snowman (Josh Gad).  The short will be directed by the movies directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck and will also feature a brand new original song from the duo behind the chart topping and Oscar winning soundtrack, Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez.

The plot outline of the short was also revealed and described as being about Kristoff and Anna working together to make sure that Anna’s birthday celebration is the best ever, all the whilst trying to make sure that Elsa’s powers do not put the party and everyone else at risk too.  The news came at the end and the ABC Television special, The Story of Frozen: Making an Animated Classic and it was then confirmed in a tweet shortly after by Disney animation.

This announcement is no surprise as Disney already announced back in May that they had a five year plan for the Frozen franchise with Disney CEO Bob Iger telling fans that, “You can expect us to take full advantage of that over the next at least five years,” and that they are likely, “to see much more in terms of watchable content as well as merchandise.”

Whilst there is no firm date other than Spring 2015 or no news on how this short will be made available to the content hungry fans of the franchise, odds are that more information and maybe even a trailer or teaser will debut in November as part of the Sing-A-Along release of the movie on DVD and Blu-ray.

What do you think of this announcement? Can you wait until spring 2015 for more of your Frozen fix? Will you ever Let it Go? (Oh yes we went there) Let us know in the comments below.
