The official Batman v Superman trailer has been released – watch it here

yes

We truly live in the age of instant gratification. Though next week’s special IMAX-only screenings for the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer were recently confirmed from director Zack Snyder‘s tweet, it seems fans could not wait that long.

Believed to have been illegally filmed from one such special screening, a leak of blurry footage spread like wildfire on YouTube and torrent sites yesterday.

Well, now we have the real deal. Warner Bros are now circulating the official trailer in non-shaky HD, though it is still days ahead of its scheduled release date.

The reasons for why two superheroes would fight against each other are now coming together. This trailer suggests that Dawn of Justice takes place some time after the events of Man of Steel. In Man of SteelSuperman revealed his powers to all, while saving Earth from becoming a planet-sized farm for genetically-engineered Kryptonians.

Now he’s saving people on the daily, heaving Russian rockets out of harm’s way, and being worshipped as an all-powerful being with a giant statue in the middle of Metropolis.

Seems as though people enjoy being saved from certain death, but they don’t trust the person with superpowers who saved them. s

And it seems as though a certain bat-obsessed superhero doesn’t take too kindly to god-like powers. “Tell me… do you bleed? You will.” With a gravelly-voiced Batman (Ben Affleck) squaring up to Superman (Henry Cavill), the franchise is being steered yet again into a dark route. This might pay off given how well received Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight trilogy was.

Though heard and not seen, out-of-context voiceovers from Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) and butler Alfred Pennyworth (Jeremy Irons) add to the sinister air of foreboding. Still no sighting of newcomers Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa) in action, but there is still time for more trailers to come.

Those who crashed the official site for the special IMAX-only screenings can rest assured that they still will be seeing (and possibly getting) something special.

If someone doesn’t leak the entire film beforehand, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is out in UK cinemas on 29 April 2016.
