South Korea to come to London for a day with London Korean Festival!

2007949_image_1The title might sound a little confusing, but its true, South Korea will be in London’s Trafalgar Square for one day only. The Korean Tourism Organisation (KTO) will be bringing a little bit of South Korea to London for the “Imagine Your Korea: London Korean Festival” on Sunday August 9th 2015. What’s even better about the event is the fact it’s open to everybody and completely FREE!

Under the watchful gaze of the famous Admiral Lord Nelson statue, attendees can expect some big performances on a stage by K-pop bands, break-dancing world champions, traditional music performances, Korean street food stalls, and a demonstration by the Korean celebrity chef Judy Joo.

The world famous Trafalgar Square will be transformed into different areas such as “The Tourism Experience Zone“, where you can experience a little bit of Korea and get fully interactive by writing your name in Hangul with some calligraphy, or creating your own Korean inspired fan. “The Food Zone” will allow attendees the opportunity to taste food from local London based Korean restaurants and vendors whilst learning the history behind the food and what makes it one of the healthiest cuisines in the world. Within “The Contents Zone” you will be able to check out the latest animation and games to come from Korea. If you pop over to “The Brand Zone” you will be introduced to the ambassadors of Korean manufacturing and technology with the help of Hyundai Motors and LG Electronics.

The PR manager of the Korea Tourism Organisation in London, Ramy Salameh, stated that “The city of London is one of the most culturally diverse and exciting capitals in the world, so bringing Korea to its very heart and showcasing everything from K-Pop to Kimchi encapsulates the relationship between the two nations. We want Londoners to get a snapshot of the amazing food, technology, dance, music, and animation that makes Korea such a compelling destination.”

Throughout the day there will be chances to enter multiple competitions, one of which offers the opportunity to win a luxury holiday for two to South Korea, which you can enter by visiting gokorea.co.uk. In the run up to the event, Londoners should keep their eyes open for a ‘Gangnam style flash mob’ touring London’s landmarks on a double-decker bus. The organisers of the event want to make sure that no one misses out on the special events happening on August 9th!

Be sure to check back to MCM Buzz for more information and of course keep an eye open for exclusive coverage of the event. For more information or to enquire about the event please check the Korean Tourism Organisation website.
