William Shatner to return as Captain Kirk

TheAutobiographyofJamesTKirkThere are few science-fiction character portrayals more iconic than that of Star Trek‘s Captain James T. Kirk by the legendary William Shatner. It was no surprise, then, that when CBS announced that Shatner would be reprising his role, a thrill of excitement was felt by fans everywhere.

But how will Shatner being re-visting this role? Will it be in the upcoming Star Trek 3 movie? Well, for answers to these questions, we need look no further than this year’s San Diego Comic Con: in Ballroom 20, on July 9th , Shatner will be in character, reading excerpts from the new book, The Autobiography of James T. Kirk.

This special live event is designed to promote the book, written by David A. Goodman, which chronicles the life of one of Starfleet’s greatest captains. From his birth on the USS Kelvin and his time at Starfleet Academy, and through to the end of his illustrious career, this memoir gives fans a whole new way to revisit this classic character and his adventures on board the Enterprise.

As if a chance to hear from Shatner directly wasn’t enough to get you excited, those attending the event can also purchase copies of the book ahead of its official September release – the books will be available from the Titan Books booth (#5537) on the show floor. If you can’t afford the plane fare, though, don’t despair: those of us unable to get to the convention can pre-order the book here for £15.58.
