After an exciting few months that saw attendance records once again smashed for May’s event, MCM London Comic Con has been awarded Best Consumer Show at the prestigious AEO Excellence Awards. Run by the Association of Event Organisers, the ceremony was held at London’s Grosvenor House to celebrate major achievements across the events industry.

This year’s May convention brought together a diverse and glittering array of guests, including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Iain de Caestecker and Nick Blood, Once Upon A Time‘s Merrin Dungey and Victoria Smurfit, Arrow‘s Willa Holland, Rila Fukushima and Karl Yune and multi-talented geek queen Felicia Day. The three-day event also attracted a plethora of amazing cosplayers, introduced attendees to some eagerly anticipated video games, and witnessed the unveiling of a brand new, life-size Batmobile designed as a replica of the car appearing in Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Knight title. If you missed them, you can see some video footage of the show here or check out our favourite tweets from the weekend here. You can also view photo galleries for the event on our Facebook page.

The new award follows the recognition given to the MCM Expo Group’s successes at the Exhibition News Awards earlier this year, where the London Comic Con was named Best Consumer Show, while the company itself was given the award for Best Brand Expansion. Said MCM Comic Con organiser Bryan Cooney:

“MCM Expo Group has now clinched both of the UK’s biggest consumer event awards, and we aim to continue to expand and improve our shows during the rest of 2015 and into the new year.”

The next MCM London Comic Con takes place at the city’s ExCel Centre in October. Click here to view the full list of MCM Comic Con dates and locations in 2015.
