BBC Uncovers Star Wars Rogue One Casting News

News has been quiet lately on the Star Wars standalone spin-off movie Rogue One, but the BBC’s entertainment correspondent Lizo Mzimba has discovered that Sherlock and Wolf Hall actor Jonathan Aris has been cast as a character called Senator Jebel.

Aris joins Felicity Jones has been confirmed as a lead character in Star Wars Rogue One. The casting was uncovered on the actor’s CV page on actors agency website Spotlight. Aris played Anderson, founder of “The Empty Hearse” society in Sherlock and James Bainham in Wolf Hall and can also currently be seen in Channel 4’s Humans.

Star Wars: Rogue One, directed by Gareth Edwards and due for release on 16 December 2016, will tell the story of “a brave band of resistance fighters uniting to steal the plans to the Death Star”. There’s no telling how big/small Aris’s role will be. He could be a Grand Moff Tarkin or he could be an Admiral Ozzel. Whatever, he’ll be able to live off the convention appearances forever after should he so wish.
