Explaining that there are rights issues that prevent them from using many comic villains from the period when the series is actually set (Marvel was created from the ashes of Timely Publications in the early ’60s and Agent Carter is set in the ’40s) Butters reveals, “Our villain from the season is very much a Marvel villain that we co-opted a little bit like we did Dr Fennhoff in the first season.”

Dingess adds, “It’s a ’40s version of that villain. We put our spin on her.”

Butters says the part has been cast but, “we’re not allowed to announce it ” before expanding on how they’re adapting the character:

“I think we’ve changed the look of her a bit obviously. We’ve made her an actress, which is very Hedy Lamar. She was a ’40s siren actress who was also a scientific genius, so that’s part of what we’re mining with this character… As much as there are not enough female heroes just on television, I feel like having a female villain is just as equally powerful.”

Season two of Marvel’s Agent Carter will be 10 episodes long and will see the action movie to Los Angeles for some Hollywood glamour at the height of the studio system.
