Tom Hardy Involved In Adaptation Of Vertigo Comics’ 100 Bullets

100_bullets_coverMad Max and The Dark Knight Rises star Tom Hardy is set to produce and possibly star in film adaptation of Vertigo Comics’ gritty, high-concept 100 Bullets for New Line, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In the film noir-influenced comic, enigmatic Agent Graves would present various aggrieved people with a gun, the identity of the person who ruined their lives and a hundred rounds of untraceable ammunition. Would they take revenge? It ran from 1999 to 2009 and was created by Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso. There were, of course, 100 issues and it won tons of awards.

A first draft of the film’s script has been by Chris Borrelli (The Vatican Tapes). The plot for movie is being kept under wraps but insiders say the plan is to stay true to the comic.

New Line took over the development and production of films based on Vertigo titles from Warner Bros in June (even though Vertigo is an imprint of DC, and Warners continues to work with the main DC characters). So New Line is also overseeing the development of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt tapped as star and director.
