Gotham Casts Leo Fitzpatrick As Villain Joe Pike

Former Wire actor Leo Fitzpatrick (he played Johnny Weeks in 14 episodes) has been cast as a criminal called Joe Pike in the second season of Gotham, which has the umbrella title “Rise Of The Villains”.

Joe Pike is the leader of a notorious gang of arsonists known as the Pike Brothers. He doesn’t appear to be directly based on any character from the DC comics universe; there is a minor villain called Pike who appeared in WildC.A.T.s #1 but we’re pretty certain there’s no connection.

There was, however, a minor, low life hoodlum called Joe Pike in the Marvel universe in the early ’80s, appearing in Daredevil. The chances of this being the first TV crossover between the Marvel and DC universes seems unlikely. But it’d be a great Easter Egg if someone calls Gotham’s Pike “Wall-Eyed” (Pike’s aka in Daredevil).

Gotham season 2 premieres Monday 21 September on Fox in the States and will follow soon after on Five in the UK.
