Gotham Announces A Female Version Of Villain Firely For Season 2

Actress Michelle Veintimilla (Not Cool, The Depths) has been cast as a female version of the DC comics universe villain Firefly for Gotham season two. This ties in with the casting announcement last week that Leo Fitzpatrick had a recurring role on Gotham as Leo Pike, part of an arsonist gang – Firelfly, y’see, a supervillain obsessed with fire and blowing things up.

According to the official press release, “Enslaved by her brothers, a notorious gang of arsonists, Bridgit Pike is forced into the family business. When she catches the eye of Selina Kyle, the young Cat Woman and the soon-to-be-Firefly team up to put Bridgit’s firestarting skills to good use. But after a deadly encounter with the Pike Brothers, the meek Cinderella is transformed into a vengeful supervillain, hell bent on destroying those who have wronged her.”

In the comics, Firefly’s real name is Garfield Lynns. He turned up, as a fire-obsessed ex-fireman, in a season one episode of Arrow, “Burned”.

Gotham returns in the US on 21 September and will follow soon after on Five in the UK.
