Michael Shannon On A Weird Zod Twist in Batman V Superman

Okay, get ready to go, “Huh?” We know from the latest Batman V Superman: Dawn Of A Franchise trailer that Zod is back in the Man Of Steel sequel despite being apparently killed at the film’s climax in a very unSupermanly fashion. (Okay, we won’t open that can of worms again).

So far, so no “Huh?” moment. There’s nothing particularly surprising about characters coming back to life in sci-fi movies and/or comics. It’s practically part of the job description.

However, check out this Vulture interview with Zod actor Michael Shannon about a change to his look in Batman V Superman.

“I was in my costume, and I couldn’t use my fingers because in the sequel I have flippers instead of hands…”

Okay, you went, “Huh?” didn’t you. Go on, admit it. No, we don’t have a clue either. There’s no comic book story where Zod becomes a mutant dolphin as far as we know. Anyway, Shannon’s more concerned about what the flippers mean when it comes to needing the little supervillain’s room:

“So I had these wax flippers on my fingers, and I couldn’t open the door, and I could hear director Zack Snyder being like, ‘Where’s Shannon? Where the f**k is he?’ And the whole crew was standing around. I was like, knocking on the door with my flippers, ‘Let me out of here!’”

But… flippers?
