Hannibal’s Mads Mikkelsen In Early Talks For Doctor Strange Role

According to various sources Mads Mikkelsen – Dr Lecter in the TV series Hannibal –is in early talks for an unknown role (though definitely villainous) in Marvel’s upcoming Doctor Strange film. You know, the one starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

Dread Dormammu!

Mikkelsen, who is also set to appear in next year’s Star Wars: Rogue One, is only one of a number of actors being considered for the unspecified role, reckons Deadline.

The Doctor Strange film already has one villain in the form of Chiwetel Ejiofor who will be playing Doctor Strange’s longtime comicbook nemesis Baron Mordo, though widely reported rumours suggest the film’s Mordo will be an amalgamation of several comic book characters.

Whatever the case, t’s tempting to speculate that Mikkelsen would make an absolutely wonderful Dread Dormammu, (pictured left), a nasty supernatural being who’s been hanging around the Marvel universe, and causing aggro for Doctor Strange, since 1964. Mikkelsen was also in the running for the role of Malkieth in Thor: The Dark World – former Doctor Who Christopher Eccleston eventually nabbed the role. Lucky him.

The film is directed by Scott Derrickson (The Day The Earth Stood Still, Sinister) and also stars Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One.

Doctor Strange is due for release in November 2016.
